A Spot of Light

Last week I spent many hours painting outdoors each and every day. I took a mentoring workshop from Marc Hanson of Taylors Falls, MN. What an intense week of painting and learning! I do feel blest to have Marc living nearby in Minnesota. His workshops are a source of much knowledge and sharing. How wonderful to spend the week with other artists.

This painting is one of several done that week. We were on our own each day to paint a specific assignment. Angel Hill, architecture, nocturnes, and more. Each evening a critique would be held going over everyone's artwork. This assignment is the result of "painting a more intimate" subject for the assignment. That day the light hit upon a clump of decorative grasses and a freshly mowed lawn. In the background trees and shrubs abound on the small incline.

This painting is available at the Red Wing Depot Gallery, Red Wing, MN.
