My Back Yard

Light Along the Rum River
8 x 10 inch

This is something that I painted yesterday evening from my studio window as the sun was setting. The light was hitting the leaves on some of the trees and the a grassy area along the river. I hope to try one of these at least once a week to learn about how the light will change the overall view of the subject.

Thank you, Chris! My plan is to try and do one of these every week to capture different light and seasons.

What a lovely painting, MaryAnn--I like the simple, yet inviting composition and the soft tonal balance. It is very cool that you have given yourself a little assignment and that you enjoy growing and learning in your art--something of central importance to me, too.

Thank you, Mary. I find that the more I learn about painting, the more I don't know and need to learn. It truly is an never-ending journey.
